Ed Lippmann commenced his architectural training in 1976 at the University of New South Wales. In 1979, hetravelled to New York where he worked in the, now legendary office of Marcel Breuer and Associates. He returned to Australia, graduating from the University of New South Wales in 1982, after topping his final year graduation class, led by visiting Professor Daryl Jackson.

Following graduation he was offered the role of "local anchor man" and helped establish Daryl Jackson's Sydney office and the inception of the Australian Film and Television School design team. This project later won the Sulman Medal.

In 1984, Ed worked as design architect in Philip Cox's office being responsible for design competitions and Bi-centennial award winning projects.

In 1985, Ed Lippmann commenced private practice in the premises, which Lippmann Associates has occupied continuously for 23 years. Over the past ten years, as the client base has broadened and commissions have expanded, so too has Ed's reputation. His interest in urbanism is now reflected in the broad range of public and
institutional projects that he is involved with.

Ed has travelled and worked widely throughout the world, undertaking projects in Thailand and California. In 2002, Ed was a member of a Federal Government delegation, which travelled to China to meet with government officials, developers and members of local design institutes He lectured to urban institutes and professional
authorities in four major cities.

Ed has taught extensively in all schools of architecture in Sydney, as well as interstate. He lectures regularly to professional groups and cultural institutions throughout Australia. His work and ideas have been published widely both within Australia and throughout the world. He now hosts his own local Sydney radio program, which
raises issues of local architectural and planning interest.

Ed is an active member of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects and is a founding member of the recently formed cultural foundation known as AAA. He is also a member of an architectural group advising the NSW Department of Planning on changes to Planning and Assessment legislation.
