This infill terrace house is in the salubrious inner city suburb of Paddington. A Land and Environment Court appeal against the original Council refusal, allowed the project to proceed. The front facade of the house was retained completely whilst the rear facade was totally new and, being north facing with city views, of glass construction. This is the last three storey glazed facade built in this heritage precinct.

The interior space is a dynamic three level environment. Light filters through the stainless steel mesh stair well to the lower level where an internal pond provides a serene natural ambience. The client, a successful Sydney restaurateur required a low maintenance home that was adaptable to his needs and those of guests.

The top floor therefore features a fully self contained master bedroom/ensuite and mezzanine office/study with the living levels split over the lower two floors. A Guest bedroom at the lower level provides private accommodation and bathroom and access to a leafy courtyard while the living areas all face north and a superb Sydney aspect.
