Brisbane 2005
Brisbane City Council manages a number of public swimming pools within an extremely large local government area.
In 2005, Lippmann Partnership were commissioned to investigate four of the aquatic facilities at Camslie Reserve, Lytton Road, Pointsettia Street and Mount Gravatt with a view to refurbishing them and providing an operational diagram which was functional and highly cost-effective.
A template was developed to create a central entry point and management office with good surveillance over the swimming pools. Change rooms were located to provide convenient access from all swimming pools with cafes accessible from both inside the concourse areas and outside to attract patronage from the public and other recreational facilities which may be adjacent.
Based on experience of other Aquatic Centres, the filtration plant and design was based on simplicity and ease of access. Construction of the facilities buildings were conceived as lightweight pavilions which are inexpensive to build and readily adaptable to changing future requirements.
