“As Sydney’s population continues to expand, brownfield sites like this offer a golden opportunity to convert industrial wastelands into premium residential precincts with excellent urban amenity”
This 3.3 hectare industrial precinct in Rockdale had been Darrell Lea Chocolates’ manufacturing plant for over 50 years until the company went into voluntary liquidation in 2012. A masterplan was prepared to propose a better and more viable use for the site dedicating two thirds of this area to accommodate over 450 residential apartments as well as 22,000 sq. m. of commercial uses. Showrooms and office buildings benefit from direct access to Rocky Point Road and screen the residential precinct to the east. The 2.2 hectare residential precinct provides generous landscaped courtyards, cycle tracks and access to a vast green public reserve which extends for several kilometres to the north. Elaborate provision of public benefits have been offered to the local Council for parkland, traffic improvements, childcare and sporting facilities.
