Lippmann Partnership were commissioned to prepare a masterplan and Stage 1 design submission for a 78 acre site near Oren Park in Sydney’s western region.
Although the precinct was being managed by Landcom, it was a privately owned rural land holding intended to be released as residential allotments over a staged period of time.
An analysis of Sydney’s urban growth based upon the State Government’s Metro Strategy established the fact that this area is isolated from the main urban growth centres of Fairfield, Liverpool and Parramatta.
In order to attract patronage for the initial development, a recreational theme was proposed with strong enough emphasis to attract residents within a 30 minute drive. As the are further develops with residential development, this first stage is to be absorbed into the Town Centre complete with commercial, retail and other public functions.
The scheme then incorporates re-landscaped wetlands and green passive and active space complemented by a skate park, sports hall and aquatic centre, a Car Museum, cafe and Landcom Land Sales Office.
The complex was proposed to be housed under a large flexible lightweight roof to provide shade and passive cooling in summer. The functions are easily accommodated within this structure with future change easily accommodated for changing future functions and community requirements.
The community centre provides bridge links to future retail developments across the main roads wile a tower easily identifies the entry from a distance.
